Sciatica

Occasionally, the large Sciatic nerve in your lower back can become irritated, compressed or trapped.

This can cause pain that spreads from the back to the hip, buttocks, and legs.

There can be many reasons why this happens, but injury to your discs, wear and tear and even swelling around the Sciatic nerve following back injury can lead to pain spreading down your leg, which is commonly referred to as sciatica.

This can be accompanied by pins and needles, tingling, numbness and weakness in certain parts of your leg and foot.

Chiropractors are extensively trained in the assessment and diagnosis of Sciatica and are highly trained in finding the cause of Sciatica.

To investigate the cause of a client’s Sciatica we provide:

  • An Initial Consultation with one of our experienced Chiropractors
  • A Thorough Physical Examination including Neurological, Orthopaedic, Postural and Flexibility tests
  • A Verbal Report of our Findings and thorough Explanation of any X-Rays or MRI Scans
  • Referral for MRI or Specialist referral if clinically necessary

How our experts can help:

Depending on the findings of the history and patient examination, our experienced chiropractors will recommend a tailor made plan of management and treatment. Treatment options may include:

  • Gentle spinal mobilisation and manipulation if appropriate
  • Soft tissue therapy,
  • Acupuncture (medical dry needling)
